Strongest mother
Yamha 34 years old is an ordinary housewife like other girls who was married early and made a family. She has 4 children two of which are adolescents. After giving birth to her youngest child her husband left and remarried with another lady. After his departure she had no way to sustain herself and her growing children. She began working in her locality as a day laborer and borrowed loan from her neighbors. Her daily income was 120 BDT but not everyday as the job depended on demand. It soon became too tough to maintain her family expenses. As a result she married off her eldest daughter before she reached puberty. Yashma however still needed a way to care for her children and she was interested to be a trainee in the RMG sector. She enrolled as a participant in Jukta Hoe Mukta project. When Yahsma was close to the completion of her training, news came to her that her son who was driving a motorcycle was in an accident with a truck. Yashma left her training to care for her son who was seriously injured. The gravity of the medical ailments meant Yashma’s son had to be transferred to a hospital in Dhaka. Through joint efforts of relatives, Yashma was able to collect a large loan. Unfortunately Yashma’s son died four days after the accident. She brought her son’s dead body from Dhaka to her village. As there was no senior male in her family, burying her son became complicated. Finally her former husband came and made the relevant formalities to bury their son but refused to pay or help pay for the burial. After the cremation of her son, Yashma plans to return to Dhaka, finish her training and to join the RMG sector so she can pay off the loans that she amassed from medical expenses and burial of her son.
